Richard passed away at home on 22nd September 2022 from an aortic dissection. The Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust have provided some further information about this and their work below.

Aortic Dissection occurs when there is a partial tear in the aortic wall. It is a time critical-medical emergency that without diagnosis and treatment, is often fatal. When diagnosed and treated on time it has a better than 80% survival rate. Aortic dissection affects about 4000 people per year in the UK of whom 2000 die.



The Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust works to improve diagnosis, survival and to bring consistency of treatment across the whole patient pathway. We do this through:
